"Genre-crossing treasures of southeast Michigan songwriting"
Stewart Francke is Detroit's funky, healing, blue-eyed soul man. A myelogenous leukemia survivor, Francke distills the essence of Detroit music--rock, Motown, R&B--down to a songwriter's universe. His album, "Motor City Serenade" was recorded with the six surviving original Funk Brothers. Stop by and pick up a copy of Stewart's new book "Between the Ground & God," a two-time winner at the Indie Excellence Book Awards in Los Angeles. Luke Sayers, formerly of Tangerine Trousers, weaves blues, jazz, country, and folk into songs with the structure and emotion of pop and rock music. His debut solo CD, "Songbook: The Introduction," snared Luke a 2007 Detroit Music Award nomination for Outstanding Folk Artist. Now Sayers and his band, the Last to Know, are back with a new full-length release, "Radio Flower," with new original songs and a great cover of Johnny Cash's "Worried Man."
