Like U2, whose label issued several of their albums, the Hothouse Flowers make pop-rock music that's thoroughly infused with Irish roots. They've been around off and on since the late 1980s, topping charts all over the British Isles and gaining a devoted cadre of fans stateside with their hyper-energetic shows. Like their more famous compatriots, the Hothouse Flowers have a passion for American soul and gospel music, and U2's Bono has called Hothouse Flowers lead vocalist Liam O Maonlai "the best white soul singer in the world." They've got lots of great new music, some of it released as a band called Prenup with Cait O Riordan of the Pogues, and it all adds up to a passionate evening of modern Irish music like none other. Opening the show this evening is PreNup.
