"A cross-genre Canadian frolic"
Affectionately known as BARK, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings are a Canadian roots supergroup. Colin Linden, Stephen Fearing, and Tom Wilson got together in 1996 after discovering their common enthusiasm for the music of Canadian songwriter and wildman Willie P. Bennett, and they took their name from one of his songs. Since then they've made new music as the spirit moves them; the last year has brought two albums, "Let's Frolic" and "Let's Frolic Again." Says the Winnipeg Free Press: "As usual the Juno Award-winning roots-rockers throw a party with something for everyone including jangly, up-tempo '60s guitar rockers, haunting ballads, carefree bluesy romps, horn-driven blue-eyed soul, radio-friendly pop and a dazzling duet featuring Fearing with country legend Pam Tillis on 'The Fools Who Can't Forget.'" Blackie & the Rodeo Kings, and their amazing Western wear, were featured on the Saturday night bill for the 2008 Ann Arbor Folk Festival.
