"A breakthrough Americana star"
Says Vanity Fair: "Tift Merritt has a voice that ranges from Lucinda Williams gritty to Joni Mitchell ethereal, a sound that can span from southern rock to Dusty Springfield soul." Tift was born in Houston, raised in North Carolina, and recently discovered by audiences in New York City and Europe. She came to national attention with her alt-country masterpiece "Bramble Rose" in 2002, and since then she's added rock and soul influences to her sound. The end result is a compelling artist who sounds a bit like Emmylou Harris, writes a lot like Neil Young, and is guaranteed to become one of the major stars of Americana music. Tift has been signed to the Fantasy label and comes to town with her much-awaited new album, "Another Country."
