"A powerful singer-songwriter, rooted in the blues"
Minneapolis-to-NYC transplant Trina Hamlin has gained a national following for her powerful, bluesy songs of longing since she began playing solo shows in Manhattan clubs and touring with the likes of John Hiatt. She's performed at the Newport Folk Festival with Ani DiFranco, Dar Williams and the Indigo Girls. she won the "Most Wanted New Artist" award at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and she was heard most recently in southeastern Michigan on the bill for the 2008 Ann Arbor Folk Festival. Trina accompanies her powerhouse alto voice with guitar, piano, or a wicked harmonica. Performing Songwriter has praised the "exhilarating rawness and sheer grooving rush" of Trina Hamlin's music, and she's a unique new voice in contemporary songwriting rooted in the blues.
