"'Bright, breezy ditties about romantic bliss'--People"
San Diego County singer-songwriter (and former National Scholastic Surfing Association California top-ten finisher) Tristan Prettyman toured with G. Love and Special Sauce and Jason Mraz in the early 2000s, becoming a Southern California sensation. She was signed to the Virgin label and released her debut album, "Twentythree," in 2005. With a style that draws on 1970s folk-rock but updates it with a bit of the gutsiness of Ani DiFranco (whose "Puddle Dive" album inspired her to start playing music as a teen), she's drawn admirers all over the country for refreshingly unpretentious songs that keep her acoustic guitar front and center and sound like they were recorded live even if she as in a studio at the time. Tristan comes to town with her much-awaited sophomore release, "Hello." Whitley will open this evening's show.
