"Icons of alternative songwriting"
What are "gin blossoms"? They're the capillaries on the alcohol-roadmapped nose of W.C. Fields: a picture of the comedian with the caption "W.C. Fields with gin blossoms" gave this well-loved band its name. Gin Blossoms songs like "Hey Jealousy" and "Till I Hear It from You" were part of countless mixtapes (remember mixtapes?) in the 1990s. The Gin Blossoms broke up in 1997 but reunited in stages, and their new album, "Major Lodge Victory," is as irresistible as ever.
